The Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation was established after a tragic event that lead to the loss of a young life. Due to an undetected cardiac abnormality, 15 year old Eric Paredes passed away from Sudden Cardiac Arrest from a suspected long Q-T syndrome. As we know, EKGs are not a regular part of pediatric health screenings and physical exams, however, they can save a life. Annually, 3-5 children in San Diego alone will die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
The Save A Life Foundation offers free EKG screenings to youth throughout the county on a regular basis, with the ultimate goal of standardizing cardiac screenings, and equipping schools with readily accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and CPR/AED training for students and staff.
At this event, volunteers will assist in teaching students and their families about CPR, as well as assisting with EKG screenings. This is the first event of many that we hope to be participating in, please see registration information below.
