On October 7th, 2018 from 1:00am-2:00pm, NUSNA will be hosting the CRMO Awareness Walk-A-Thon at the Spectrum Campus to raise money and awareness for a very rare disease!
What is Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis (CRMO)? It is an auto-inflammatory bone disease that is extremely painful. This diagnosis is rare with 1 in a million actually being diagnosed with it. Patients are typically diagnosed in childhood but since it’s so hard to diagnosis, these patients have already experienced countless tests and many painful flare-ups. The patient’s immune system is impaired and causing systemic inflammation within the bone. This inflammation is painful and causes tenderness on the affected bone, which is often times, a long bone but lesions can be found on any bone of the body including vertebrae. We encourage all of National to get involved and register for this event! Many of our cohorts have already begun to create their cohort teams to show support for a wonderful cause! In addition, we have set out to break the Guinness World Record for the largest cake walk! This event is sure to be one you won't want to miss and we hope that you all will be able to join us! More details can be found at: https://www.crmoawareness5k.org/. We had another huge election this month as Cohort 49 are about to finish their program this October. Congratulations to our six incoming Board Members!
Our June 2018 Issue is finally out! It has been eventful for NUSNA as two of the most rewarding and exciting events occurred in the past four months- Southern Commencement and White Coat/Pinning Ceremony! In addition, we had more NUSNA-SD events, more Faces of NUSNA, and new Board Members.
Congratulations to Cohort 47, 48, and LVN 9 who had their white coat and pinning ceremony today! They are so close to becoming great RNs! From NUSNA to you, we wish you luck in all your future endeavors.
